THE GATHERERS OF ROYAL AMBER
The Honeypot Ant works the cistus scrub after dark, when the labdanum runs thickest, and carries it home as liquid gold. The Scarab rolls the raw amber uphill and will not leave it. The Cicada sings through the long noon and the saffron comes to her. The Scorpion carries a lantern she cannot use, and guards what the others bring.
